Grammy // Beast

It's the Grammy's tonight, (self-titled Music's Biggest Night). Montreal favourites Beast are up for a Grammy, courtesy of up-and-coming director Ben Steiger Levine and the video for 'Mr Hurricane'.

Out With The Old #1 // Bullion

First up, in a celebration of music passed, I spotted this on By The Numbers, an amazing 3 hour long mix which details the history of the Chicago music scene. Quite, quite staggering. If you have a spare minute.. or two..

Bullion, by comparison, has only been around for a second and the local London producer has been garnering a lot of coverage over at Gorilla vs Bear. Bullion will soon be supporting The XX in their upcoming London dates with their original afro-dance-pop-not-sure-what genre blend of tracks. Buy the new single here.

Esben and the Witch : Marching Song

Surfer Blood//Soundalikes

It's not just me, but Surfer Blood manage to sound just like Weezer (although not on Swim) but on the excellently titled 'Twin Peaks', courtesy of 'Sup Magazine:

Swim, however, sounds just like the Misfits....no?:

Surfer Blood are playing a handful of London dates, which you can check out here.

ATP new acts // Grizzly Bear

ATP announced recently that Spiritualized will be playing at the May festival in Butlins, Minehead, as curated by Matt Groening. Let's just hope that they never invite the guy from Family Guy to do it, otherwise we'll all end up singing along to Journey (this is only uncool since some young whippersnapper ruined it all for us on X Factor).

Lineup currently looks a little like this:

IGGY & THE STOOGES / SPIRITUALIZED performing Ladies and Gentlemen... / THE XX / COCO ROSIE / BUILT TO SPILL / HOPE SANDOVAL & THE WARM INVENTIONS / JAMES CHANCE AND LES CONTORTIONS / PANDA BEAR / DEERHUNTER / DANIEL JOHNSTON / THE RESIDENTS / BOREDOMS performing Boadrum / THE RAINCOATS / BROADCAST / THEE OH SEES / JUANA MOLINA / LIGHTNING DUST / KONONO N°1 / TOUMANI DIABATE / DANIELSON / JAMES BLACKSHAW / AMADOU AND MARIAM / PONYTAIL / SHONEN KNIFE / RUINS (SOLO) / VIV ALBERTINE'S LIMERENCE / ANNI ROSSI / COLD CAVE / THE TIGER LILLIES / THE FRESH AND ONLYS / HELLO SAFERIDE

Spiritualized : Shine A Light (Unreleased Mix)
Panda Bear : Untitled track from Young Prayer
Amadou and Miriam : Sabali (Theophilus London Remix)

Bears and boys from school should rarely mix, unless perhaps that boy is Bear Gryll. Or is it Bear Gruff? Popular television has always seemed to pass me by, apart from what Harry Hill is able to pass on.

The Most Serene Video

Our favourite director, Mr. Steiger Levine has this excellent video for The Most Serene Republic:

I was digging around my local record shop the other day and found an old copy of this Comsat Angels album. Sheffield hasn't produced anything this good since. Unless... well we all like Def Leppard.
